Overview

Copper for iOS has a document library that is filled with files you previously loaded on your device. You can find EAGLE files all over the web. Most DIY electronics are done with EAGLE and you'll find a lot of PCB layouts and schematics in EAGLE file format as a free download.

EAGLE stores the project in two files: A .brd file for the layout and .sch for the schematics. Copper always needs at least the layout file. At the moment it's not possible to only load the schematics. But Copper does not necessarily need the schematics file. Of course it is best to load both files to make full use of Copper.

Copper stores all of it's settings in a third file which has the extension .cop. Sometimes these .cop files are provided along the EAGLE files. 

The best way is to provide/download a ZIP file that contains all files (.brd, .sch and .cop if available). Copper will download and examine the ZIP file and will show you a nice selection dialog where you can choose which files you want to import. This way you can send multiple EAGLE files at once.

Tap on the + icon to add new documents to the library. You will be provided with various options:

Adding files from outside the app

iOS has gained awesome ways to handle files in recent versions and Copper fully supports those. Installing Copper on your iOS device will register Copper to be able to read BRD, SCH and ZIP files.

Whenever you get hands on one of these files in any App like Mail, iMessages, or the iCloud Drive long press the icon. You will then be presented with various options. One of the options is "Copy to Copper". If you do that, Copper will launch and will import the file.

If you send a ZIP file containing Eagle files, Copper will show a dialog where you can choose which files will be imported.
